bananarit

whateverwhateverwhateverwhatever

9:45 PM

pwede ring magbate

9:47 PM

ah oo tahimik dahil di namin alam na nasa RDI ka pa pala.... miss kita chie ung usual self mo :)

12:21 PM

i actually learned from you what the word oxymoron means and you even gave "deafening silence" as a good example...may that oxymoronic moment help bring joyful tears in your life. :)

9:34 AM

10:43 PM

my own definiton of an oxymoron eh dapat moronic siya aside from contradictory expression siya, e.g.'military intelligence' o kaya eh 'marital bliss'. 'deafening silence' is not moronic enuf kaya sa akin hyperbole un.

1:13 PM

"military intelligence", just like "civil engineer", is not an oxymoron in the true and strict sense but the suggestion that it is oxymoronic is humorous. sabi.

9:58 AM

'strict sense'? hmmm, another oxymoron, hehe.

MILITARY intelligence, they used to say in the bad, old Marcos days, is a contradiction in terms. It is an oxymoron. ISAFP and Brig. Gen. Jose Angel Honrado have proven this once again, by releasing, and defending, the contents of a CD on the “Enemies of the State.” http://www.pcij.org/blog/?cat=2&paged=2

1:13 PM

Here's something about "perceived" oxymoron:

Indeed, in recent usage it has become fashionable to refer to any contradiction at all as an "oxymoron"...The fashion may have arisen because "oxymoron" sounded more exotic or learned than "contradiction", but its widespread use in this sense is based on a misunderstanding of the original, literary meaning of "oxymoron" which implies an artful use of a contradiction for effect. http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclopedia

delurking now...

2:32 PM

3:17 PM

At the moment, current dictionaries appear to mention only the original sense of "oxymoron", but it is possible that in future the distinction will be blurred, and the original meaning of "oxymoron" will be lost.http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclopedia
/O/Ox/Oxymoron.htm

ha! vee shall prevail!

3:23 PM

i learned of the word oxymoron over 10 years ago, yung isang kilala ko sobrang natuwa sa oxymoron, instead na 'oxynoronic" ang sabihin eh mas pinili nya ang "oxymorous"

4:43 PM

ye, the future is always a venue for the blurring of distinctions or for making further distinctions. for example, in the 13th century pala, the word "girl" denotes a child of either sex (knave girl is a boy and gay girl is applied to young women). (womanwords: a dictionary of words about women -- got it from booksale 2 years ago!)

speaking of old meanings, in the old days, ang virgin daw referred to 'unmarried women' at di wala pang experience sa sex. given that...virgin pa ko. hehe

5:03 PM

ah, iba ata ang unmarried sa separated len. sabagay dito sa pinas, we actually throw away the original meaning of a word and use it for something else: 'derecho' in spanish is right not straight, 'safehouse' has become dangerous and here the term 'to salvage' is just sooooo the opposite of what it still presently means to the rest of the world. the future is now.

5:13 PM

ah mga irony na yung safehouse at salvage as used dito satin. pero pagbigyan mo na ko sa "unmarried" ako

1:18 AM

9:08 AM

sa tahimik na lugar nagaganap maraming ingay
